San Antonio’s major business sectors include hospitality and medical/biotechnology. As for products, the city produces large amounts of beer, petroleum and cattle. With 12 accredited universities and colleges, San Antonio is also known as a college town and center for higher education.

San Antonio’s roots were largely military, and the city continues to have a large military presence today. Fort Sam Houston acts as the headquarters for the U.S. Army Medical Command as well as the home of the Fifth Army. Air Force Bases include Lackland, Randolph and Brooks. There are about 85,000 military personnel in San Antonio.

San Antonio is home to the San Antonio Spurs, one of the NBA’s most successful franchises over the past 15 years, with five NBA Finals appearances and four NBA Championships since 1999.

The Alamo is considered THE most popular visitor attraction in all of Texas! San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution.

San Antonio is the most affordable city in the U.S., for visitors as well as the local populace.

The San Pedro Park is America’s second oldest park. It is a green city with urban parks that covers more than 11,000 acres. It also has sixty-eight miles of bike and urban hike trails.

Austin has about 19 million visitors each year and total annual visitor spending is around $3.5 billion. Visitors flock to this city for a great deal of reasons, but a couple of this highest contributing factors are Texas Longhorn college football games, Austin City Limits music festival (ACL) and Formula 1.
